What Happens In Vegas Ends Up On This Blog

While simply saying the words Las Vegas can usually bring to mind some bad decisions, risky financial choices and pretty cringeworthy Facebook albums, the artists in today’s post have all used the fabulous Sin City as inspiration for their paintings, photographs and stationery.

I have yet to visit Vegas myself but these finds make me happy that what happens there doesn’t always stay there.

I love this collage print by Robert Mars. He describes his work as a chronicle of Americana and he combines vintage elements with bright colors and patterns. Each mixed media piece invokes childhood memories, which for me includes rides in my grandfather’s 1960s Chevy convertible similar to the car in this print. You can also check out his blog to share in his love of all things vintage and fantastic.

Well, we all know what Las Vegas is famous for! No, not that—it’s the wedding capital of the world! Crystal A. Powell aka CAPow! is a graphic designer and photographer whose print “Forever Vegas” reminds me of the thousands of couples who race to the chapels of Vegas every year. I love the incorporation of the pink candy heart and the use of a Nevada road map. She has created a collection featuring all different cities including one of New York that I definitely have my eye on.

A while back I came across this collection of vintage neon signs by Pink Antler Photography and now I am glad to have a reason to share them! An homage to Old Las Vegas’ earlier days, these photos feature a graveyard of retired signs from casinos, wedding chapels and amusement parks. The prints themselves have even been given a slightly distressed look to bring in even more of a vintage feel.

Take a gamble! Isn’t that what Vegas is all about? I think it’s a pretty great rule to live by in general and I love this print by Roll and Tumble Press that features the inspirational phrase. I would definitely send this to a recent grad or even simply a friend setting out on a big adventure.

Thanks to its use of one billion or so light bulbs, Vegas is hands down the flashiest city around. Photographer Emanuele Nardoni captures the glitz and glam perfectly with this great night shot of the famous Flamingo Hotel & Casino. You can visit his Behance page to see his entire album of Las Vegas photographs as well as beautiful images from travels all over the world.
