For this week’s Staff Pick, I have chosen “Anis” by LaBokoff. I know this may be a funny way to describe someone’s work, but I would have a crush on this invite if it were a person. She would be a mysterious person who I would associate with the color gray like a foggy day. She may look simple, but there’s a multi-layered side to her that makes her so intriguing and makes you want to get to know her more.
The overall composition of the invite is simple and the subject matter is delicate, yet the texture is rough. I love when opposites meet and create a perfect marriage like… chocolate covered pretzels (the marriage between salty & sweet)! Just like LaBokoff says in her bio, her invites are poetic. The white border works like a window, asking you to enter her beautiful scenic view, meditate with her and let yourself be absorbed with the world she has captured for you. Her invites are charged with emotions, which shift depending on the way you look at the invite. This makes her design so versatile and could work for multiple occasions. So if you don’t quite know what kind of fabulous party you are having yet, versatile designs like hers would be perfect for you.
Great work, LaBokoff! Congratulations on being this week’s Staff Pick and the winner of $50!
