Halloween weekend is just about here! The leaves are falling, the monsters are abound, and the trick or treaters are ready for their share of candy. Have you carved a pumpkin or two yet?
If you haven’t carved a pumpkin in a while, you might want to take some tips from Ray Villafane, pumpkin carver extraordinaire. Elaborate carvings mark these pumpkins as far from ordinary, as Ray’s fine craftwork turns each one of his subjects into an autumnal masterpiece.
Ray’s gallery consists of some insanely intricate sculptures. I love his entire portfolio of pumpkins, especially this first piece depicted below.
It’s amazing how Ray carved this piece to make the hard surface appear to be soft and malleable.
Ray manages to put an extreme personality into all of his sculptures. It’s really as if he brings life to what he carves.
Are you inspired to carve your own pumpkin this year? Ray’s impressive work proves that creativity can bring character to almost anything. Check out Ray’s website to see more of his pumpkin sculptures, and to see his other work with sand and toys!

These are truly brilliant creations, regardless of medium.
Art galleries are rarely blessed with true art like this, instead, frequently filled with pretend artistry in the form of abstraction – often a vehicle for hiding ability rather than for expressing it.
awesome
That’s cool… looks like Photoshoped, but cool…
Marvelous. I really like the zipper and the first one looks like a real person. Scarry.
Very impressive! The greatest work!
