Holidays

The holiday season has been in full gear, and hopefully most of us have gathered the majority of our presents and are ready to wrap them up and write those gift tags.

Do you want to make your gifts stand out and make a statement even before they’re unwrapped? These gift wrap ideas will cause (almost) anyone to stop and stare before they tear away the wrapping.

  • This wrapping is fairly easy to do and is appealing to the eye. It’s striking and unique, but far from overdone.

We are officially in the holiday homestretch! With only 10 days ’til Christmas it’s almost time to check off everyone on your list, breath a sigh of relief, sit back and enjoy some yuletide movie magic. So, I thought I’d share a list of my all time favorites along with some fun cards and prints I found inspire by each of the films. Enjoy!

5. Elf

I have one friend who, through the entire holiday season, answers their cell phone with “Buddy the elf, what’s you’re favorite color?” Point being, you can’t help but LOVE Buddy. There are so many elements that made this movie a Christmas classic and I think the print below illustrates that perfectly!

With Halloween right around the corner, stores are starting to sell out of costumes and children are getting excited to fill up on candy. If you’re planning on throwing a Halloween party this year, now is the time to start preparing for a night of fun and thrills! Planning the perfect party may seem like a frightening task, but don’t let that scare you away from throwing what will be the scariest and most entertaining party of the season! Here are some tips that will help make your party a graveyard smash.

  • Send out a spooky invitation that will instantly get your guests into the Halloween spirit. I love this Halloween invitation, “Creepy Weirdoland” for its elegant, slightly eerie look, and for the bold text that will immediately capture the attention and interest of your guests.

Not quite in the fall spirit yet? Whether or not you have taken out the heavier jackets and scarves yet, a little autumnal flavor and inspiration will get you ready for the crispest season. Why not plan an autumn inspired dinner party with friends and family to connect and unwind before holiday madness hits?

  • Send out an invite that is seasonally stylish. Check out the pinggs that feature pumpkins, leaves, and the classic icons of fall. I really love the design Delicious Autumn since the bright colored spices really capture the fall feeling and matches the theme of the party.

Earth Day is right around the corner, so pingg wants to help you celebrate the planet appropriately! This April 22, show how much you love the earth by vowing to recycle, reuse, and reduce. How, you ask? Search no more, we’ve compiled a list of the best ways to say, “I love you, Earth!”

Be Contagious

On Valentine’s Day, we encourage you to infect others with the love bug by send hearts and kisses. On birthdays, we support spreading love by saying, “Happy Birthday, I’m younger than you.” On Earth Day, we want you to pingg loved ones and start a planet loving chain reaction.

Send Happy Earth Day wishes and include a way that you are going to help the planet this year! Here are some of the pinggs you can send:

Go Paperless

Most banks and credit cards are offering a paperless option so take advantage of it! Check your bills and statements online to reduce the use of paper and get rid of mail clutter in your home.

And, of course, use pingg for invitations, holiday cards, and birthday wishes to cut down on paper and ink use!

Reuse: Save Cash and the Planet

It’s the little things that count. Start printing double sided on recycled paper. If you can’t print double sided or have a lot of one sided junk mail, keep the pages for scrap paper to jot down grocery lists or use as sketch paper for kids. Don’t forget to recycle paper at your local recycling center when you’re all done with it.

Skip Disposables

Bring your own coffee mug for your morning joe instead of using plastic ones in coffee shops. Some java shops even offer a discount if you bring your own cup.

Avoid buying bottled water and carry around a reusable water bottle instead. Not only will save money, but every time you refill your bottle and skip the plastic, you’ll be hugging the planet!

Paper or Plastic?

Neither! Instead, buy reusable shopping bags like the ones below. They’re simultaneously more durable and adorable than regular paper and plastic grocery bags. Check out what Reuseit has to offer:

Don’t trash it. Donate it!

Have a small army of pencils, pens, markers or crayons that you don’t need? Donate them to local schools. Take a look at iLoveSchools.com to see if any schools need help around you.

You can also donate old blankets to animal shelters to keep pups and kittens warm and comfy and donate used clothing too.

The ways to reuse and reduce waste are endless. Post a comment if you have another great planet saving idea!!

There is a sweeping epidemic that has crept into one too many households in America. Mundane and predictable Mother’s Day plans have begun to plague families. This Mother’s Day, moms probably anticipate a card, flowers, and family dinner if she can gather the children together. Well, pingg doesn’t support unoriginality, so we want you to catch mom off guard with these great Mother’s Day ideas.

Note to moms: Conveniently leaving this blog post up on the computer or printing multiple copies and strategically littering them around the house may act as a hint to husbands and children.

Show Mom Extra Love

My main gripe with Mother’s Day is in the name. It’s only a day. Why not begin sending love her way a couple days early? Starting on May 1st, send mom daily pinggs on the days leading up to Mother’s Day to show her you’re already thinking about her. Mathematically speaking, more pinggs equals more love. Here are some of the cards you can send mom’s way:

Skip the Kitchen Supplies

Mom doesn’t need another spatula or an apron. If your mom is anything like my mom, the gift of your company is worth much more. Do something fun together rather than giving her a typical gift. For the mothers who like to primp, take her out for a spa day so she can finally get some well deserved relaxing in. For the more adventurous mom, try taking her geocaching. It’s a fun way to spend some time outdoors. You just go to the site, put in a location, grab a GPS, and head out with your mom. It’s like hide and seek’s more advanced, big brother and a great (free!) way to spend the day.

Forget the Gift Card

I love gift cards, but I just don’t think they cut it for Mother’s Day. Try getting her something really meaningful and unique this year. Take a look at the great gifts Ten Thousand Villages has to offer. They are a fair trade organization, which means they offer fair wages to the artisans who hand make each of their items. They offer great gifts for mom like the ones below. Get mom something special and support a good cause while you’re at it! They have over 300 stores around the United States and an extensive website.

Don’t Break the Piggy

When Mother’s Day would roll around when I was young, I’d crack open my piggy bank and head to the store with my life savings of $8.73. This year try and save that piggy bank! Enter to win pingg’s Mother’s Day Giveaway. Your mom would be one lucky lady if she owned a beautiful piece of jewelry from Fine & Good Jewelry, but, you’d be even luckier if you won it for her!

PLUS in addition to this great giveaway, Fine & Good Jewelry designer, Aimée, is offering a 20% discount for anything on her site until April 30th! Simply enter the coupon code MOM987 at checkout!
