Design Matters!

Don’t get me wrong, the majority of the team’s time has been painstakingly spent building a better platform and developing features and functionality that we know consumers are looking for, even asking for. That said, design was always at the forefront of the dialog, and never an after thought. All along, we’ve felt that consumers shouldn’t have to compromise their own personal aesthetics just because they use a web application.
From the simple module design of the invite creation platform, to the look and feel of the invitations themselves and how they arrive in a guest’s mailbox, to our information site, design has been an important part of the development process. We wanted hosts to be excited to use pingg not only because it offered a powerful platform that could make the entire event planning process easier but also because hosts could rest assured that the basic design elements were taken care of, leaving them to focus on the fun part of personalizing their own invitations to achieve an overall beautiful, unique invitation from start to finish. The same can be said for the guests receiving the invite, we wanted them to have an equally positive experience opening, responding and being involved in the event.
We never felt that just because we were a web application, people using us would not care about how we looked. We knew that a lot of the negative experiences people had to date with online invitations and event management were not just the lack of functionality but also the lack of sophistication and style. Think of the experience you have walking into a favorite store or boutique or seeing an ad in a great lifestyle magazine. You’re affected by the colors, the photos, the merchandising. We wanted to inspire consumers the same way and to create an overall positive experience for hosts and guests alike. Throwing a party is fun — the experience around it should be a positive one.
