Happy Mother’s Day

Each Mother’s Day, I take pleasure in the look of shock on my mother’s face after she receives an unexpected gift from her beloved middle child.  Unfortunately, I have run out of creative gift ideas to make sure I elicit the same genuinely surprised and thrilled response.  In the past few years, I have been consistent in always giving my mother flowers. So much so, that this year she casually hinted to the type of flowers she wants.

So, this year I have to get her something new. I searched amazon. I searched overstock.com. I even searched ebay. But nothing seemed to have that originality that really gives my mom that look of surprise. And so, as I thought that flowers were going to have to make an appearance this year, I stumbled upon a site called Etsy: ‘your place to buy & sell all things handmade’. With so many great products, from bags and purses to plants and edibles, anyone can find something on Etsy.  I even found a gift for my sister’s birthday and a great handmade ipod case, for me.

While flowers can always make a mother smile, the unique gifts I found on Etsy will have my mom begging for a new pair of earrings instead of tulips, next year.
