Why I Love Brooklyn

If you hadn’t already heard, submissions are in for our new Brooklyn-themed Designer Series and we’re asking for you to VOTE for the best one!  Being one of 2 people at pingg living in Brooklyn, I knew I would have to educate my fellow NYC residents on a thing or two about the ‘better’ borough.

If you drive along the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn, there’s a welcome sign that reads: Welcome to Brooklyn: Where New York City Begins! – Enough said.

When I think of New York City, I think of many things, but most specifically, pizza, cheesecake, overpriced boutiques and a nightlife that never sleeps. And while most picture the skyline of Manhattan when thinking of the city, some of the very best of New York’s staples are born and bred in Brooklyn.

Take for example pizza. How about the best pie in NYC? Now, that’s a hard call since a slice in New York is no laughing matter. If you want the best, head to Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn, where Zagat named it NYC’s #1 pizza.  Or how about cheesecake? Just ask P. Diddy and he’ll send you across the Brooklyn Bridge to Junior’s in downtown Brooklyn.

Perhaps once the bridesmaid of Manhattan, Brooklyn has now become the center of attention. From housing celebrities like Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard to having some of the best surf in the east coast, Brooklyn is reclaiming its borders and the speed-induced Manhattan, that it bridges to the world.

Take a breath, of fresh air.
Visit Brooklyn.
