NYC Chocolate Show

pingg Designer Series: Craig Kanarick
For most people, fall means changing leaves, apple picking and Halloween costume preparations, but for me it means the countdown begins for the annual New York Chocolate Show. Every year, life in Manhattan gets a little sweeter with the show’s dedication to one of the world’s most beloved foods: chocolate.
With 55,000 square feet of chocolate and unlimited free samples from over 60 vendors, it has the ability to induce a childlike enthusiasm from an atmosphere only Willy Wonka could imagine. While the show makes stops all over the world, this year it returns to NYC and I know that as my friends and I wait in line with the other thousands of people expected to attend, I will be strategizing my plan of attack. I suggest starting from the outside and working your way in.
The Show really is chocolate at its finest, from the well known, like Godiva and Lindt, to smaller local vendors with slightly more obscure samples – - wasabi chocolate and chocolate covered bugs anyone? For those of us mourning the end of fashion week, there is the chocolate fashion show where designers mold together unique creations, which, ok lets face it, look good enough to eat. First-timers, however, be warned because no matter how much you love chocolate there really is only so much you can consume before entering a sugar coma.
I also like to check out the cooking demonstrations given by some of the world’s best chocolate and pastry chefs. It really is one of my favorite weekends of the year. You should check it out if you’re in NYC.
