Summer may be cooling down, but football season is just starting to heat up.   Non-Steelers fans like myself have had months to get over the previous season and now it’s time for a brand new one to begin.

Football is America’s most popular sport and for good reason.  First off, it is the best and most played fantasy sport. Secondly, tailgating before football games is incomparable to any other sport, and third, the Super Bowl is the greatest spectacle in all of sports (or so I believe it to be).

One important factor that separates football from the other major sports is the parity in football, which gives every team the chance to win it all before each season starts.  A few changes in the right direction and your team can go from losing every game the previous season to winning the Super Bowl.  There is hope Detroit Lion’s fans!

This year training camp and the preseason have rocked the football world with a shocking new headline every week.  For myself there was one headline that carried more weight than the others.  I’ve been a football fan since I could walk, but I never had a favorite team, only a favorite player.  That player has always been and hopefully will be for years to come, Brett Favre.  You cannot listen to a sports station without hearing discussion about Brett Favre’s decision to come out of retirement for a third time.  As far as I’m concerned #4 can retire and un-retire every year until he is fifty as long as I can still see a little “Favre Magic” sixteen weeks or more a year.

So for a different perspective on the football season I suggest participating in a fantasy league and if you want to see tailgating at its finest, try and make it out to a game.  Not only is the atmosphere energizing but the football snacks are at their finest. Take for example one of my favorite tailgating treats, nachos. And, not just any nachos, but Mr. BAM! himself, Emeril’s Crazy Nachos.
