Go For The Gold
The 2010 Winter Olympics are underway and I, like many others, will spend the next two weeks glued to the television watching as many events as possible. With a number of newcomers, including The Caymen Islands, Gabon, Ghana and Bahamas making their first time appearances at a winter Games, Vancouver is hosting Canada’s 3rd round of the Olympics and one that shouldn’t be missed.
With half of humanity tuning in to watch the games, it’s time to get ready for your favorite competitions. Whether it be speed skating, ice dancing, ski-jumping or my personal favorite bobsledding (what can I say I loved Cool Runnings), the Olympic Games will surely help you beat the mid-winter blues.
A cool new addition to the Games this year, is all of the athletes who will be blogging and of course twittering while racing for the gold. Fans now have ‘beyond the scenes’ access to their favorite athletes.
Also, read up on some of your favorite athletes from years past that will be making a reappearance at the Olympics. I remember Apolo Ohno in his short-track races making off with five gold medals and of course his brilliant victory on Dancing With the Stars.
Celebrate with a “Let the Games Begin” party, complete with decorations, mock-medals and even a potluck meal with dishes from all over the world.
