To kick off our first amateur photography competition, we thought we would start close to home, the New York Borough of Brooklyn. From Coney Island to Greenpoint, the Brooklyn Bridge to Prospect Park, we called for images that represented the true pride and spirit of Brooklyn. After receiving hundreds of submissions, and thousands of votes, pingg is proud to introduce our exclusive Brooklyn's Best Designer Series.

- Alicia Kachmar »
Alicia Kachmar has lived in New York for six years, splitting time between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Favorite activities include baking while wearing one of her many vintage aprons, crocheting smiling and frowning foods while listening to the NPR books podcast, cutting her own hair and the hair of friends, writing into the wee hours of the morning, going on long bike trips and pretending to be a good pool player. She avoids "careers" and "long-term plans" like the plague.
Alicia started taking pictures at a very young age, once double exposing film and thinking that it was the coolest mistake ever. She fell in love with Brooklyn and photography simultaneously while in high school, heading there for spring break to shoot rolls of black and white for a photography class assignment.

- Amy Rollo »
Amy Rollo was sold on photography after her first darkroom class in high school. She studied photography and design at Pace University in New York City, which also led her to a stint in Italy at Florence University of the Arts where she refined her darkroom skills studying classic photography. It was at this point when she also dug her heels into fashion photography in order to extend her talents to the commercial world.
With a penchant for travel, her photo library spans across Europe, the continental United States, and the Caribbean. She is interested in fashion, but more so in individual style and the person beneath the clothing. The fusion of a desire to see new places and a universal interest in people has created an organic photojournalistic approach to her work.
Amy is currently employed as Art Director of HoneyMag.com, an urban, multi-cultural digital magazine, but is always open to freelance photo assignments. Amy regularly updates her blog, Brookland, with new work and other relevant content related to her creative activities.
