Take a break from grey November to enjoy these lovely photographs. Charles Dana explores the wonderful life that abounds in the gardens and parks of our city, with particular attention directed to the very small details. Through photography he strives to isolate this beauty, which is commonly ignored, and presents it in a manner that continues the tradition of the French Impressionists: selecting the defining details and using color, light, and form to capture an impression of the soul of his subjects.
  
Charles's photographic education, although not formal, is based upon many years of self- direction aided by books and studying the works of the great artists and photographers. He has always been inspired by the French Impressionist painters and their mastery of using light, color, and form to convey, not the outward appearances of their subjects but rather their essence, their inner soul.
  
Charles is a St. Louis native, who retired this year after 44 years working in the information technology field. He has pursued photography as a live long avocation. Now retired, he at last has the available time to become serious about presenting his vision. Although somewhat old in years, he remains as young as ever in spirit and in the exploration of the marvels and beauty of nature which continues to amaze and inspire his art.
