You’ve seen the pictures. You’ve heard the reunion stories. You’ve seen the reports of the projects we were able to fund at our MBHS Alma mater through our joint efforts. Therefore, by any account, our first MBHSIAA Inaugural Gala was a tremendous success, wouldn’t you say? Indeed, it is because our first Gala was such a hit that, by popular demand, we are officially announcing that our second MBHSIAA Grand Reunion Weekend and Gala is scheduled for October 19-21, 2012 at the Marriott Fort Lauderdale Hotel at Coral Springs, Florida. You have lots of advance notice this year. Therefore, no one should have an excuse to miss all the festivities when opportunity knocks a second time!
We have planned an entire weekend of various events to ensure that this Grand Reunion weekend will be the unforgettable highlight of your fall calendar. We will have an inspiring speaker, who shall remain nameless for now, but can confirm that Methelina Scarlett- Jones has graciously accepted our invitation as the official emcee at our focal Gala event on October 20, 2012.
With your help last year, we were able to provide scholarships for five (5) deserving students at MBHS, confer our first Teacher of the Year award, as well as purchase twenty-one (21) computer bundles, complete with all the peripherals. This year, we hope to supply uniforms and equipment for the athletic department, and increase our student scholarship award/incentive program for, at least, another ten (10) students. The school still needs a new school bus and we will be asking for additional pledges/donations this year to assist them in reaching their financial goal in that regard as well.
I know we can count on your unequivocal support of all of our fundraising activities. We encourage you to purchase ads in our souvenir magazine - personal or business ads-raffle tickets, MBHS memorabilia and any donations you feel motivated to give on our "Can't Make it Donation" area. Moreover, stay tuned to our E-blasts and Facebook group page for updates. We have arranged hotel rooms for our out-of-town alumnae and friends, rate is $99 per room -so book early.
The Board of Directors of MBHSIAA and I look forward to seeing you again and meeting some of you in person for the very first time. We believe in our MBHS Sisterhood and ask you now to keep our plans - and us - in your prayers as we strive to continue to serve you - and our alma mater - well.
Sincerely,
Karen Morris-Clarke
President – MBHSIAA
