As all of you know, our dear friend and colleague Tom Seslar passed away on Friday, August 17. Since no services were held, it was decided that a get-together to celebrate Tom's life was the best way to express our collective good fortune to have known him. He touched the lives of everyone who met him -- a fact that should not go unrecognized.
Therefore, a Sunday brunch -- 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 14 at Chief O'Neill's Irish Pub -- will enable us to eat first, drink a little and then share stories about Tom in an informal setting, with a little jazz music playing in the back ground.
The brunch will be $16.95 and there will be a cash bar -- which each of us will pay for as individuals (plus tax and a tip for the drink servers) at the end of the afternoon.
What's included? Well, per O'Neill's web page, it's an
All-You-Care-To-Eat Brunch Buffet
A Tradition Since 1999
(10 & under ½ price, 2 and under free)
Menu:
Assortment of Homemade Salads, Imported Cheese Display, House Smoked Atlantic Salmon;
Peel & Eat Shrimp, Fried Atlantic Calamari, Live Carvery and "Made To Order"Omelet Station;
Irish Eggs Benedict, Bacon, Sausage, Corned Beef Hash, French Toast & Waffles;
Chief’s Famous Fish & Chips, Hot Entrée du jour, Chili Bar, Assorted Breads, Mini Pastries, Fresh Fruit.
Also, you can build your own ice cream sundae. And O'Neill's has Milk and White Chocolate Fountains, accompanied by delectable dipping items.
Plus, there is a "Build You Own Bloody Mary Bar."
In other words, no one will go home hungry, which would make Tom happy -- since he loved trying out different foods and restaurants.
With regard to parking, there should be plenty on Elston and nearby streets, especially since it will be a Sunday afternoon. By the way, the Bears don't have a game this particular weekend.
So, please plan to attend and get reacquainted with many of your and Tom's Amoco/BP P&GA and other friends and some of his neighbors (spouses, significant others are welcome, too). In any case, please respond to this invite no later than Monday, October 7. In fact, even if you can't join us, please respond and send along your favorite memories and impressions of Tom -- which eventually we will share with his family.
