Shahin has worked with Lux Capital since 2006, focusing on investments in energy and technology. Before joining Lux, he held technical positions at General Motors and several Silicon Valley technology startups. He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science with College of Engineering Honors from the University of California at Berkeley, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Management from the University of California at Los Angeles. Shahin has also served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the UCLA department of Electrical Engineering, and Staff Research Associate at the California NanoSystems Institute. His research on wireless biosignal telemetry has been published in over ten IEEE conference proceedings and three IEEE journals.
  
Shahin in his keynote speech will discuss how Sand Hill is once again focusing on consumer internet. Should scientists and "hardware" engineers abandon their dreams of becoming an entrepreneur? Shahin will provide a brief overview of his firm Lux Capital, recent trends in the venture capital landscape, and share his views on potential opportunities in robotics, automation, and personalized manufacturing.
