You will really enjoy the musical talent of Dr. Teresa Crosby.
  
Teresa first began playing the piano at age 4 when given a piano by her grandmother. She was able to play by ear songs that she had heard in church. By the time she was 8 years of age, she played piano at the First Baptist Church of Raytown, Missouri.
“My father is a retired Southern Baptist Minister of Education,” she said, “and my grandfather was a preacher, so Christian music had a great influence on me. But, no one had more influence on my musical pursuits than my grandmother, who played the piano or organ at churches where my grandfather was pastor.”
Crosby had years of piano lessons and participated in numerous recitals, but developed her own style. She learned to read music, of course, but incorporated in it her ability to play by ear.
Over the years Crosby has accompanied gospel quartets, soloists and choirs; and has played keyboard for a Christian rock band. She has served as choir director or minister of music for a number of churches and other Christian organizations, such as “The Walk to Emmaus.”
Crosby said her concert at The Church at Granbury will feature a variety of favorite hymns, classical favorites, popular songs and some sing-along opportunities.
“Teresa [Crosby] has the talent to be a professional concert pianist,” said C.C. Risenhoover, senior pastor of The Church at Granbury, “but years ago she made a commitment to serving people when she entered nursing school with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. She loved the idea of family practice with a focus on wellness and the complementary role she would play with physicians in the treatment of patients. She thoroughly enjoys her specialty because of the continuity of care when treating patients across the continuum, especially when family members are also patients. She understands that life situations that affect one family member affect all family members.”
Crosby received her undergraduate education from the University of the State of New York, her graduate education from the University of Texas-El Paso, her post-master’s medical education from Texas Tech University, and most recently a doctorate of nursing from Texas Christian University.
She holds membership in Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, Texas Nurse Practitioners and the Coalition of Nurses in Advanced Practice, and has been a practicing nurse practitioner since 1994.
