Mission Schools International will build a network of secondary schools whose graduates fundamentally transform the Rwandan economy. First and foremost, MSI recognizes the cycle of poverty will never be broken without a holistic approach. As result, MSI will offer a comprehensive program that includes exceptional education, basic healthcare, and proper nutrition. MSI will support Rwanda's economic development strategy of building knowledge-based economy by providing a rigorous academic program that will focus on science, technology, and entrepreneurship. We currently have a team of Harvard Business School students and faculty working on our entrepreneurship curriculum and the Rwandan Minister of Education has asked that some of this work be used in the national curriculum for entrepreneurship. Students at Harvard Graduate School of Education are working on our English and Math curricula as well.
  
MSI's first school will open in January 2011 in Rwinkwavu, a rural village in the poorest province in Rwanda. The school will be boarding and will open with 60 boys and 60 girls in grade 7 and eventually grow to 720 students in grades 7-12. The Rwandan government has given MSI 21 acres of land across from a fantastic hospital run by Partners in Health (PIH). We will be working closely with PIH so that our students have access to quality healthcare and their patients have access to great education.
  
MSI graduates will be the scientists, bankers, programmers, and innovators who create a viable, self-sustaining, middle-income Rwandan economy. MSI’s objectives are not for our graduates merely to get a job or have good test scores, but rather the measure of our success will be how our graduates create jobs and positively contribute to the national economy.
